Sounak Nick Misra, MD

President & Treasurer

Dr. Misra grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and St. Louis and after completing high school, attended University of Missouri-Kansas City for his undergraduate and medical degrees. After completing an internal medicine residency there, he moved to Portland, OR in 2004 where he went on to complete a geriatric fellowship. After working in primary care for several years, in 2012, with the burgeoning opioid epidemic, Dr. Misra transitioned his practice to focus on the treatment of addiction. Since then, he has been board certified in addiction medicine by the American Board of Addiction Medicine and the American Board of Preventative Medicine. In addition to working in the field, Dr. Misra is personally an active member of the recovery community in Portland. He believes in a holisitic approach to recovery that encompasses one’s physical, mental, spiritual, and social health and the importance of engaging and giving back to one’s community. He lives in SE Portland with his beautiful wife, Shawn, and their two furbabies, Percy and Munchkin, maintains a deep love for music and comic books, and is a die-hard fan of the Chicago Bears.

Originally from Quebec, Canada, Cheryl has lived in the PNW most of her life. She graduated from Parkrose High School. She received her Bachelor's degree in business from University of Phoenix in 2016.  She has been a part of the Recovery Community for 29 years.  Cheryl was a lead Customer Service Coordinator at Sherwin-Williams for 25 years, retiring in 2021. She now devotes her time to being a member leader at Recovery Café Roseway and traveling the world with her husband, Bruce.
